Some days remind you why you do what you do. Today was one of those days—a humbling, inspiring reminder of the power of connection and the importance of showing up for the next generation.
Two months ago, I visited Ms. Kelly Fogwell’s class at New Harmony High School during a career day. We had a great conversation about the Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) industry, and I left feeling hopeful about the spark of interest I saw in their eyes. We captured the moment with photos, but little did I know one of those pictures would take on a life of its own.
Fast forward to this month: that special photo was featured in TechNation’s November 2024 edition, turning a meaningful visit into something even more extraordinary. The feature was not just about me—it was about those students, their potential, and the beauty of inspiring someone to dream bigger. I knew this was a moment worth sharing with them.
So, I reached out to my good friend Jayme at MD Publishing and asked if I could get copies of the magazine for each student and the school leaders. Without hesitation, they delivered. A few days later, I had enough copies in hand, ready to create a memory these kids could hold onto.
When I shared the news with the students, their excitement lit up the room. Suddenly, the roles shifted. I went from being their speaker to being their fan. I asked each of them to autograph the article for me, and they graciously obliged. Those signatures now grace a copy of the article that will hang proudly in my office—a reminder of why this work matters.
Before I left, we had to take another group picture, of course. And this time, the students held their own copy of the TechNation article. Their joy and pride reminded me that these are the moments that fuel the future—moments when we plant seeds of possibility and nurture them with encouragement.
This day reaffirmed my belief that exposure and connection are powerful tools. By introducing these students to the HTM industry, I hope we’ve opened a door they didn’t even know existed. But they’ve given me something in return too: the energy and motivation to keep showing up, to keep building bridges for the next generation.
To TechNation, thank you for creating a memory that these students—and I—will treasure. To Ms. Fogwell and the amazing kids at New Harmony High, thank you for inspiring me more than I could ever inspire you.
And to you, the reader, I encourage you to join in the celebration and experience the energy of the day. Watch the recap video here and see firsthand the power of planting seeds for the future.
